ABOUT ME

I am a Darwin based tactile artist who loves colour, texture and creative chaos. My portfolio is very eclectic and draws from a wide range of subject matter, media and styles.

Fundamentally, my work is based on the idea that the creative process of making art is a form of non-verbal communication which encourages self-discovery and emotional growth. I use art to explore what is happening in the world and to express my response to it.

Some of my favourite mediums to work with are acrylic, silk, felt and resin; and I love to incorporate them together with a range of techniques including free motion embroidery and burning. The burning technique in particular features very strongly in my work, and was developed as a response to my friend’s battle with cancer. Initially, the burning represented the cancer, but has now come to represent the strength, beauty and character that come from adversity.
